\nGocalSD hasn't really been as active as I had hoped for it to be. Not a whole hell of alot going on and not a whole lot of people talk about me or mention me. I guess that's ok since im staying low and trying to build up on my coding skills and project management. The only people to recognize my work is my girlfriend and Google Plus Community. It's not something my parents/family tqlk about because they don't really understand it so they don't go bragging about my work or share it and its understandable but frustrating at the same time. It's hard to be excited about something and show them what you have accomplished where they don't know the progress you've made nor what their exactly looking at. For the android community, its a mixture of feelings and feedback of which I enjoy the most and base my work on. My parants use Sapphyx Launcher (Kinda forced it on their devices) and as they use it or feel confused about something, thats where i make big changes to make it more user friendly and interactable. Noy everything can be about features or gestures or appearance but how it approaches the user. I may lose points because of a user interface but as long as its easy to understand or navigate, thats where you score. My plans for GocalSD is to just continue maintaining it to showcase my work and projects. As far as the Mobile App, I will be rebuilding it later sonits more automated and friendly to your device.
\nOne of my projects ive been delaying hard is Drywall. Its something thats just sitting in my vault of things todo. The update is done, its just the part where i need to develop an easy management system for wallpapers and media management. Drywall should release by the new year with a new look and purpose and share with the community some strong backgrounds and wallpapers with color, scenery, and emotion.
\nSapphyx Launcher is just blowing my mind right now of how far it has grown. Right now, theirs 2 parts of development im focusing on. Original development and fork revisions. As changes are made to Launcher3 on Googles git, I try to adapt them as they become available on the base i use. I like to keep an eye on ooen source projects as well like Slim Launcher, AOSPA Launcher , and Lawnchair. If their's something these guys have implemented I like and find to be useful, Il merge it to Sapphyx. These changes are based on open source so it's free advancement to users. Some features, Il build myself but base the idea off their own because of the fact, most users are building on Kotlin now and i haven't learned how to read it or write it yet. These ideas are mainly focused around icon pack customization, pixel 2 imitation, homescreen customization and shortcut porting. With original development, its all about what makes Sapphyx Launcher unique and chances are, your using Sapphyx Launcher because of it.
\nThere's alot going on with Sapphyx Launcher emotionally I just dont have the ability to put into words. If you look back at Sapphire Launcher and compare it to its beautiful sequel launcher, alot has chnaged. Not only with the physical appearance and style of the launcher but the development itself. The 2 launchers retain the idea and same ball park approach to things but a madining difference in customization, style and user interface. All this was built by a developer whos talent was solely based on Google Searches, Stack overflow questions, ebook reading, courses, asking questions tonother devs and writing my own samples from lessons i taught myself. Im way behind where any develooer should be in the time line of being apart of the android dev community but its all being juggled on maintaining a family and responsibility out of the nerdy world where things happen that control and modification is based on money and success. In hooes to growing more and gaining more talent and skilk, the profit made off of android development supliments the loss. I am personally excited how and what Sapphyx Launcher is turning into. It is nothing of what I expected several months ago, almost a year ago.
\nDevelopment is heavy at the moment for Sapphyx Launcher. Its my main project and my only. A couple of features im working on right now will settle in for the new year and that is as follows. Notification Bubbles are still in beta testing butbis is my homebrew representation of Android Dots from Pixel Launcher. Small little indicators that appear over a launcher shortcut when that application has a pending notification. Right now, we're running into a few problems where sometimes the system needs a reboot to Recognize the system notifications and an accasional ID crash. Il keep working on this feature to keep improving as its an improvement from Sapphire Launcher and it works across the board so we will keep it. Context Pages is my idea of a swipe to left extended homescreen. Eventually my goal is to build something similar to Static Pages were users had the ability to maintain what pages appeared on the left, now we currently dont have that so the page adapter is limited. 3 pages power this extended space extending the homescreen experience. As of right now, we have the Dashboard page (Similar to One Plus Shelf), Dashdrawer page (a quick drawer with unique perks), Dashclock page (Shows dashclock module cards). As time goes forward, all 3 of these pages will become more and more useful and featured to users. More pages may even come into play. Pre-N Shortcuts are currently being dug into. Currently in the beta, we have a preview of how shortcuts interact with Pre-N devices. Now its not fully functional atm but it is nice to see how these menus work and interact with the homescreen workspace. Folders are one of the least customized and used features in Sapphyx Launcher, during the final 2017 beta, I will be looking into expanding how we use folders and how they are used. I feel they're not being used as much as they should be because of the drought of expandable features on them. Gestures will continue to be looked at in Sapphyx to expand their detection and usages. This is a low priority but taking into consideration. The app drawer is starting to feel unique. Ive always wanted the drawer to have a menu you can interact with to help you navigate and find what your looking for. The one issue we currently have is transitioning from the dock to the app drawer. Swiping tends to stick in between so a current investigation and fix is being implemented. The dock itself is starting to evolve. A 2 row dock with widget support opens up many possibilities for customization. In the current beta builds, we see the behavior on first start is a little off so the user needs to manually calibrate the settings to get the desired feel and look, il be looking into making the dock a little more automated for the stable release build so when it detects its on 2 layer mode, the correct dimensions are applied and vice versa. 2 things are on my experimental list and those are to add a background corner adjustment for custom background appearance and a possible sliding dock similar to how a homescreen behaves. The launcher settings still has a few more cosmetical changes i want to adapt to a more fluent/material interface and junk a few preferences for sliders, just to make things a little more professional looking. I havev alot of ideas for the future of Sapphyx Launcher. A personal assistant powered by google, AIO search, an interactable dashboard, voice actions, movement control, all of these seperating us from other launchers. I really dont consider anyone competition yet. Sapphyx seperates itself from a native launcher with the popular and most wanted features. If i had a private repository, id probably invite devs i to development because of the fact ots starting to get really difficult as the android base version increases, code changes and I have to sit and relearn a few things before i can continue. Its juat a natural thing developers have to embrace and without any sort of background experience or training, its alot of work for myself to maintain this project and keep up with the demands. I am scared of the future of the application as well as excited. Will I meet the demands and grow a community or fail and just be another launcher on the market without any means. In the end, Sapphyx Launcher is to be a unique google powered launcher built to meet the demqnds of an android user to create a homescreen thats optimized for your life style and device specs.
\nWith the development of Sapphyx Launcher, which I hope to be titled a premium launcher someday, is promotion. Right now im planning to build an advertisement video to release on YouTube and social websites and on the playstore. Right now, I solely depend on the community to push its existence in the world. Twitter, Instagram, pinterest, tumblr, Facebook, YouTube, Google Plus; Anywhere you can drop a link or screenshot and tqlk about your experience, i hope to see it their. In an effort to help push promotion, I am starting a December challenge for the Google Plus Community, I will announce details this weekend. The prize is GSD Onyx Free for 3 days on Google Play. A valuable opportunity to grab my most expensive backing and lock you in with my productions and let other people in on our awesome community. It will require teamwork in the community and I will monitor the activity via Analytics and Firebase.

\nSomething thats been in development in my books for awhile with Sapphyx Launcher is a service pack. This service pack basically excels and monitors the usage of Google Firebase, Analytics and Google Services in Sapphyx Launcher. It will also optimize performance for Qualcomm devices by rendering views faster and enable ota notifications for Sapphyx Launcher. I feel with ota notifications, i can reach out to users not included in the google plus group community and create a stronger bond with customers with alerts pertaining to updates, bugs, promotions and testers. This add-on will not be required to install and kinda seperates the crowd who want privacy to their information vs those who want the launcher to thrive and deliver anonymous information to firebase and statistics to me. This add-on will release soon and all users will be invited to use it immediately.
\n2018 is almost here. With the coming year, new projects are in my books as well as updates that are well due. Anvil Companion, Drywall, GSD Mobile will all recieve complete overhalls and massive updates. I will also start on a brand new project relatively soon that will be the first of a GSD Premium App. The application will be a Gallery Application specifically designed for Android 6+ and Qualcomm optimized. I still have alot planned for Sapphyx Launcher as well so don't worry about it falling behind. Updates may slow down but they will be worth the wait. I was debating if i wanted to continue android development or start studying something else. Ive always wanted to start looking at mobile game development or get involved in a project but i feel my limited time wouldn't be auch a good idea. I hope projects theive for the 2018 year and I can continue development for the people that follow my work and upgrade my hardware so i can go further and develop more complicated solutions for daily task.
\nAs a side note and final notice. I am still begging for help to get a decent coding laptop. I had hoped it was successful but so far it hasnt. If you would like to help me get a good start on 2018, you will be blessed. My desktop consumes to much electricity and i need to save money. Heres a link to my campaign.
\nAnd finally, me.
\nIve been abit up and down lately. Struggling to properly use all the hours of the day, getting our house ready for the winter months, spending time with the kids, making sure my girlfriend is happy and has everything she wants, working heavy hours to pay heavy bills that never cease to let up and struggling to put food on the table. What may seem like a perfect life from the post on Google Plus, Facebook, twitter, its starting to take its toal on me. Im hoping development spikes and i can make a little more incom to keep myself comfortable and relaxed. I am completely lose when my mind is balls deep in code and reading all the compliments from the community and PMs i get. Im no different from any other android user, the only thing i do differently is give back by creating a virtual piece of my mind and place it on your phone to use. I keep looking back at all the things ive done and how far ive gottwn just because ive put my mind to it. Ive gotten jnto this habit of grinding hard to get something i want. Whether its for joy or to have a chance at making things easier for my little family, its all worth it in the end. To that, I say thank you for the awesome 2017 year.
